I'm Not Gay
However,
I realize that it's been
a long time now that
I've been only too sure
that when you arrive in
a new city and you're looking
for the hippest part of town,
where people have style,
where all the good restaurants
are, where you can find good jazz,
you simply seek out
the gay neighborhood.
Similarly, I recently saw
myself deciding a particular
candidate for mayor was a
good choice when I noticed that
the local LGBT magazine
had endorsed him.
Must be my kind of guy,
I thought. But I'm not gay,
and neither is he.
I assume I'm not the only het
who recognizes this discerning
aspect to homosexuality.
The fact that I openly admit
to this point of view says
volumes about me. I can't decide
if it says good things or bad.
