McCain Called

This week I received a phone call.
It came from "McCain 2008" and it
only rang twice. I can't be certain
of course but the alarmist in me
has this possible scenario working
itself up in my head:
earnest and ignorant campaigner for
McCain places call to known leftist
and dissident before he gathers
what info he can about his target;
on seeing the details of a malcontent
appear before him on a computer screen,
he ends the call after only two rings.
Understand that in the year 2008
the powers that be know far, far
too much about us, with only
the punching of a few buttons.
They can separate the leftists
from the rightists. And they will.
Separate we will march on into
what's not yet known. But we will be
together as we go on not knowing
what will be.
