What Should Not Be Forgotten
I love you.
I have always loved you.
When I'm dead remember that.
A person can't have
too many books; so too
a person can't say
I love you
too many times.
I love you.

I wish I could have
told you this
in person; I wish
we might one day have met.
For now I know I want
to say I love you
to a woman more so
even than I want love.
I want to be free to say it
and to know my freely
offered love does not
fall on deaf ears.
I want a woman to delight
in those simple words:
I love you;

How I wish I could have
found you.
How I wish that this
desire were the very thing
that should not be forgotten.
