Moon Rock

I still have that little piece
of the moon you gave me
years ago. The commemorative
stamps too. They sit together,
along with candles and
various prized artifacts of my
life, on my meditation shrine,
which I've started actually
using after all these years.
I put things on my shrine
I want to think of often,
that I want to have in mind
when sinking into trances.
I have a card too, a card
with real hearts and fucking
passion, you made me once for
a birthday. I like to become
young again sometimes, go
back and feel what it meant
to be entranced by you.
That moon rock and
the many intangible prizes
you gave me look so perfect
under the candle light, in
the light of recollection,
I simply couldn't imagine
my life without them. Maybe
this is a letter; I'm not sure.
I know, above all, it's my
way of saying: Katie,
I still think of you and your
startling smile often. And
thank you for the moon rock.
